Does the Keto Diet Work?


hey everybody it is Geoff back in my
office with another awesome whiteboard video for everybody today I know I’ve
talked about this in the past that talks about the the keto diet I’ve done videos
on it I’ve done writing about it I’ll probably do many many more because it
just keeps coming up so it’s a day I’m just a little bit different I’m gonna
talk to you about how and why the keto diet works because it does work I think
the why is the most important behind it so here on the board I’ve got some of
the the the rules of the things that the keto diet is is kind of a proponent of
and then down here covered up for the end is how it works alright how and why
the thing keto diet works because like I said it actually does it does help
people lose some body so let’s talk about it no carbohydrates or very very
low carbohydrates alright ketogenic diet does not want you eating carbohydrates
why is that well they are one of the easiest things to overeat alright the
last time that you binge Don something I’m willing to bet that it wasn’t
chicken breasts potato chips things that are super super easy to overeat are
almost almost always have carbohydrates in them
potato chips chocolate ice cream and all of these things have carbs so if we
remove carbohydrates from your diet those binge type foods tend to go away
right there goes pizza there goes alcohol there I mean there goes a lot of
things that people typically binge on so right there we’ve already dropped out a
pretty significant amount of calories from your diet when most people say oh
well there’s still fat in there yes there is I’m gonna get to that in a
second but the next one is its high protein which is something that I
actually advocate for my members and and when I tell people how to how to set up
the nutrition high protein is a big thing one to maintain their their muscle
tissue which is big but to it’s very very difficult to overeat protein just
like I mentioned earlier if I told you that you know I have this amazing that
you can eat all the chicken breasts you want you know how many chicken breasts
are you gonna eat before you are tired of chicken breasts I mean not to mention
you know not to mention in general but in one
sitting how many do you think you could really put down three maybe if you were
really hungry right so high protein is the hardest overeat you eat something
that is just protein it’s very very difficult to overeat that high fat all
right yes fat is something that it’s easy to over
eat but if you think about it most of the things that are high fat that are
easy to overeat also have carbohydrates in them it is very difficult to find
something that is just fat right so you have people doing silly things like
putting butter in their coffee and you know butter would be a primarily just
fat source but even something like peanut butter is still gonna have carbs
in it so you still have eliminated many many of the things that are easy to
binge or overeat on and you’re left with having high fat but in combination with
your proteins so you’re eating fattier cuts of meat bacon ribs people you know
people eat silly stuff you know higher fat content ground beef and now you get
the dual effect of high protein and high fat which makes you feel full right you
feel full for a lot longer you’re not as hungry as you as you normally would be
alright so all of this together leads to a decrease in calories consumed and
here’s the kicker here’s how it works calorie deficit puts you into a calorie
deficit just like we always talked about in here there is no magic there is
nothing about being fat adapted or any of that silly nonsense that they that
they report is the cause of all this magical fat loss you lose fat because
all of the things that they do put you into a calorie deficit the reason that I
am NOT an advocate of this specific type of dieting is it is very unrealistic
long term I have not met anyone that has done this and maintain this ketogenic
diet for years and years and years alright every you know there are people
out there that say that they’ve done it and then it can be done great you guys
are you guys are a small percentage of the population it is much better to take
the time to understand how to eat carbohydrates in control it is this
to me this is the the child’s approach to dieting where instead of teaching you
something it’s we’re just gonna take it away from you because you can’t be
trusted to have carbohydrates so we’re just gonna take them all the way and
then you know then everything will be great because you just can’t have them
except the fact that you’re an adult so you’re gonna have whatever you want and
you’re gonna go back to carbs eventually anyways so it’s not that the keto diet
doesn’t work all right it’s that it works for the same reason that I keep
telling you over and over and over again which is creating a calorie deficit
there are easier ways there are better ways to create a calorie deficit that
don’t make you miserable and that you can continue on after the
fact after you’ve lost the body fat you can keep doing a more sensible approach
at this stuff so I hope you got something out of this you guys have a
