Job Searching | Master of Applied Nutrition at the University of Guelph

I think the MAN program is going to be
extremely beneficial when it comes to finding a job because I have such a
diversity of experiences to speak to. So for students that do a clinical
internship they spend their full year in a hospital and they might go outside of
that hospital or into different departments for two to four weeks at a
time, whereas in the MAN program I spend 13 weeks immersed in key areas of
Dietetics, so I can speak to what it means to be in population and public health for a thirteen week period. I have more depth to that experience and I was able
to take on more responsibilities because I was there longer. And then the same for
both my long-term care placement and my clinical placement. I spent another 13
weeks in each and so when I go forward to talk to employers I can say you know
here’s what I’ve done I have a portfolio of projects that I was able to work on
and many of them see from start to finish and so I’m hoping that that will
be really valuable as I look for a job.
