What we utilize in our practice is the Fasting
Mimicking Diet. This was developed at the Longevity Institute at USC. According to their
studies, you preserve lean body mass. We want to make sure that that will be true for our
patients. So, we want to get a body composition before they begin this process of fasting
or the Fasting Mimicking Diet, so that we can ensure that when we put them through this
program, we’re not causing them to lose lean body mass. We try to get every single
patient to have an initial body composition done. Then we will check it at certain intervals.
What we have found is what we had hoped to find. That in virtually all of our patients,
we are finding that they are losing fat. It’s amazing, we’ve had a couple of patients they
have lost virtually 100%, almost 100% fat – almost no lean body mass was lost. It’s
pretty powerful when you can show a patient that they have lost all of this weight. But
it’s exactly what they wanted to lose. So, it’s been a wonderful tool to implement
with our fasting patients.
