This was the dawn of nutritionism an ideology of viewing food for its nutritional value Rather than its taste or tradition This would be the biggest shift in the way humans ate food since the invention of Agriculture Liebig would go on to concoct the first ever baby formula consisting of cow’s milk wheat flour malted flour and potassium bicarbonate this invention would reveal itself as a massive failure of liebig’s understanding of nutrition For babies fed, exclusively on his formula would suffer serious health effects regardless of this failure Scientists were determined to break down food to its smallest elements and unlock its nutritional secrets Enter the 20th century and the rise of the Kellogg Empire John Harvey Kellogg Considered a diet guru at the time went on an unfounded campaign to smear animal protein in an attempt to promote is much healthier snacks and cereals Kellogg convinced the public that protein proliferated toxic bacteria that destroyed organs and even spread the idea that protein caused obsessive masturbation in the mid 1900s the focus would become fat as Americans gain weight throughout the century a logical target was fad Short-sighted consensus would lead us to believe that eating fat makes you fat Science and the media would support that logic by demonizing fat and soon every aisle in the grocery store was nonfat this or low-fat that as you do a little more investigating you uncovered that many of the studies that demonized fat in the 1960s and 70s were funded by sugar companies the same thing happened in the tobacco industry with physicians approved cigarettes that could miraculously heal a sore throat clean your teeth and lead to a longer life of Course these studies and claims were all funded by the tobacco industry Today it’s the same story But different culprit packaged foods are now covered with health labels of no carbs and sugar free The science is now telling us that some fats are a necessary part of a healthy diet Monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats which are found in foods like fish seeds nuts Olive oils and avocados are a major source of energy Help you absorb, vitamins and minerals are needed to build cell membranes Essential for blood clotting muscle movement and hormonal balance for the last 40 years Marketing on food labels has convinced the public that fat makes us fat which could not be farther from the truth Yet many of us go on trusting food labels that claim to be backed up by science What happens when we zoom out at the last two centuries and review all the nutrition science? You’d think that with all these studies and health revelations that the population as a whole would be much healthier if the goal of foods Was to produce the most optimal most nutritious food wouldn’t there be ultra healthy? superhumans walking around everywhere The fact is the exact opposite is true after All the studies and research the Western world is more unhealthy than ever More than 100 million people in the United States have diabetes or prediabetes About 70% of the population is overweight and 40% is obese heart disease is the number one killer of Americans Nutrition science may have its intentions rooted in the right place But ultimately it has been manipulated to serve the capitalist profit machine not our health Nutrition fads health claims and diet plans have fueled the food industry into a nine trillion dollar glutton The bottom line is the Western diet is not good for health if this wasn’t already obvious enough We have startling proof of just how unhealthy the Western diet is when it gets introduced to an isolated Population like the aboriginals who for thousands of years lived on animals, they hunted and plants they could gather Once the Western diet was introduced to them the rates of obesity heart disease addiction and diabetes Skyrocketed when aboriginals get off the Western diet and go back to their traditional ways of eating they lose weight Lower their blood pressure lower cholesterol and dramatically improve their health in all areas We should ask ourselves. How different are we from aboriginals? What’s even more concerning is the conflicting alliance between the health care system and the corporations that produce our food? The unhealthy addictive food that is force-fed to the masses ensures that there is a steady flow of paying customers for hospitals and drug companies in 2016 Bayer pharma acquired Monsanto the world’s largest food agriculture company for sixty three billion dollars This merger put Bayer in control of 1/4 of the world’s food supply Why would a pharmaceutical company want to control the food supply? This is just one example of how the large corporations don’t have your best interests at heart They only care about profit and they use Scientific research to manipulate the population at the expense of our health So what can you do to escape the complicated misleading maze of information surrounding food? The answer could be an entire three-hour video on its own But here are a few simple rules to follow Don’t eat anything. Your great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food avoid food products containing ingredients that are a Unfamiliar B unpronounceable C more than five and number avoid food products that make health claims shop, the peripheries of the supermarket the middle aisles are where all the processed foods are get out of the Supermarket whenever possible and go to farmers markets in closing we need to move away from Deconstructing food into nothing more than calories and nutrients it’s time We reevaluate our relationship with food and it is a relationship Everything in nature has a deep relationship with what it eats.   2. With good intentions, I believe you're doing a disservice to society in this video. An uninformed person can easily conclude from this video that science is evil and sold out to corporations. Science does not work for anyone or any goal. Corporations don't use science, they use marketing. In my opinion, this video contributes to conspiracy theorists and discrediting of science.

  5. Western culture also gained huge food surplusses in the past centuries, with high fat/carb/suger products more readily available than ever before. Maybe studying nutrition has ensured that that trend has slowed down a bit. What's wrong with studying nutrition?

  7. Protein causes me to obsess over masturbation. JK the best way to do nutrition is just eat food that you can tell what it's made out of like meat, eggs, full fat yogurt, bread, cheese, fruits and vegetables. The stuff that's bad for you is the stuff where you can't tell what it's made out of by looking at it. If you don't understand the ingredients it's probably bad for you. Even things like cheeseburgers are healthy if you make it yourself with just base ingredients. I know because I eat cheeseburgers all the time, I also drink full fat milk, eat full fat yogurt, eggs, bacon, and all the other stuff that's good to eat. I still eat some processed foods but only as snacks never as meals.

  9. Food has two properties:

    1. Energetic
    2. Nutritional

    You can eat according to all of the rules listed, but if you are eating more calories than your body burns on a day to day basis you will gain weight.

    Most chronic illness is related to obesity and that's where Bayer/Monsanto are really cashing in – it's an overabundance of highly palatable calories paired with a sedentary lifestyle that's causing all of the destruction.

    If you have an understanding of what your basic nutritional needs are in terms of macros (protein/carbs/fat) and ensure about 80% of what you eat comes from whole food sources, your energetic and nutritional needs will be met perfectly!

  10. Guys learn to stop masterbuating(no-fap), walk everyday, avoid sugary things especially soda or drinks, and very importantly FAST. Go 5 days without food and drink only water, NO supplements or anything. Then when starting to eat start very small. Like small amount of fruits like watermelon is good for breaking a fast and certain light foods like soups. NO meat. Day 2 eat nuts and fruits and vegetables and small portions. Day 3 slowly include eggs and white meat like chicken, salads, veg, fruits etc. But do your own research for breaking a fast. I'm no expert. Fats makes people fat because 1 gm fat= 9 calorie while 1 gm sugar = 4 calories, makes sense??? stop consuming animals products which are full of cholesterol, saturated fat, antibiotics, hormones, chemical etc which acts as risk factors for promoting heart diseases, cancer, blood pressure, hypertension, stones etc and reduce consuming processed foods

  17. I love your videos, but in this one you bounced around the real root of the issue. The claim fat makes you fat has truth to it. Of course it doesn't include the healthy fats like the ones you mentioned including avocado. The fat that makes you fat is animal fat. That kind of fat is solid at body temperature, so when it is ingested, it doesn't get used for energy like plant fats would. The animal fat goes straight to our fat where it is stored. Animal products are also the leading cause of heart disease in the form of strokes and heart attacks as they clog our arteries, including the ones in our brain leading to cognitive decline, dementia, and alzheimers. Animal products also are a main cause of many cancers, diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, high cholesterol, the list could go on. A plant based diet can help prevent 14 out of our top 15 killers in the US. The odd one out being accidents. A plant based diet can also be used to treat and even reverse many of the killers including the top 3: heart disease, cancer, and cerebrovascular disease (strokes). Some vegan doctors that you can trust: Dr. Milton Mills, M.D., Dr. Garth Davis, M.D., Dr. Neal Barnard, M.D., Dr. Michael A.   18. It seems to me that you're connecting the science of nutrition itself to the problem of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. I agree that there have been and still may be corporate holds in nutrition, but to link Nutrition Science itself to the problem is wrong. A nutrition scientist today or nutrition book used in curriculum would have sound information from peer-reviewed research. Yes, we should watch for claims and look into where the money is at, but to fault all of the science doesn't make sense.

  19. I'm going to be the devil's advocate as always.
    Food isn't the only culprit here. We as a species have become far more sedentary with desk jobs, remote controls and microwaves.
    That, coupled with upsized fast food and the addiction that carbs bring, is of course, a recipe for disaster.

I feel like u actually conflated and complicated an already entangled battle between the food industry, the blatant deficiencies and evolution of Western medicine, and the actual available data. There is credible, independent nutritional studies that hv proven a whole food plant-based diet is the most beneficial for optimal human health. This just adds to the confusion in my opinion…

    Truth is these companies hide sugar in their products. Read any label and just view the chemicals that is NOT real food. The names have like 13 letters. Can't even pronounce these lab-made products. Man has always tried to mimic God. This is how ppl bodies are shaped bad, this is why folks get these diseases. Everything is perpetuated for addiction and sales. In biblical history ppl lived hundreds of years. Now "they" kill us off early so that social security you worked hard for…won't make it to your wallet. Cows milk is for COWS!!! This is why teenage girls are built like adult women. Those enzymes from cows milk is for the growth of a baby cow. Eating meat is a slow kill as well. Tears up your teeth and digest slooooow. It took me just a few short weeks of practicing a vegan lifestyle in order to see and feel the lifelong benefits. I instantly dropped 40 lbs. Had ultimate energy and were focused mentally. IT'S THE RIGHT WAY. A honey bun won't do NOTHING but rot your teeth and make you fat. You may not notice, but it's a slow destructive progression. Hemp seeds, agave and spring water makes really great milk.

  25. There are so many good diets to choose from. I'm not saying all of those prescribed diets (from video) are pretentious and useless. Though, most of them completely are.
    Mediterranean, Japanese (Okinawa), Australian Aboriginal (like fucken lemon myrtle and bush tomatoes), a lot of South-east Asian, and that's just a fraction of many healthy, even ancient or traditional, culinary diets.
    Okinawa elders eat untill their satisfaction level is at approx. 80%. This is what my grandmother from Indonesia does and she used to ride a bike until she hit the age of 75.
    We produce too much for what we really need, and don't get me fucken started about the unequal distribution of all that waste-food.
    I would never let go of preprocessed Ramen though, I always upgrade it with some veggies or an egg.
    In the end it's about the things you do apart from stuffing shit in your mouth hole.

  28. So many flaws in how this is presented but I get what you're trying to do to. I don't know any better than anybody else. But what I would suggest is doing a lot of research on nutrion. So basically think. Make your own decisions for your health. Know what works well for your body by getting the nutrition you need without sacrificing flavor and satisfaction

  29. It's all about each person's metabolic clock. Your sleep, activity, and eating habits are supposed to stay regular most of the time no matter what you eat and you will stay relatively healthy. PROCESSED SUGARS and LIGHT, LITE, OR FAT FREE foods accelerated the obesity rates in this country exponentially, alongside bad nutrition propaganda and fewer real foods available. That said, it's still within our control as to WHEN we eat. Repeat your same schedule as much as possible and your body's amazing metabolism will surprise you .
